This special event takes place April 25 at a symposium at UDM’s McNichols Campus.

In addition to Weisenberger, the event, titled “Synodality: Encounters — A Conversation on the Prophetic Role of the Church in this Time and Place,” will feature Helen Marie Burns, RSM, former president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious and a current member of the UDM Board of Trustees; Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv. of Lexington, Ken., president of Pax Christi USA; and ±«Óãtv Professor of Chemistry Matt Mio, an expert on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’.

The symposium will be moderated Bridget Deegan-Krause, author of Together Through Reflection: Themes for Those Who Lead and Serve in Catholic Organizations.

Fr. Charles Oduke, vice president for Mission Integration at ±«Óãtv said the discussion is an outgrowth of the University’s Catholic mission.

“Inspired by the spirit of synodality, UDM is a place of encounter and dialogue, where faith meets with culture and engages the critical issues of our time and place,” he said.

The discussion begins at 2 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom on the University’s campus at 4001 W. McNichols in Detroit. It is free and open to the public.
